This is taken from Genesis 1:1-2:3
In the beginning God Created the Heavens and the Earth. Now, this happened a long time ago. But people just can not agree on how long ago this happen. But it is known that God existed before the world was made. For God created all things by His wisdom and power.
At the very beginning the earth looked a lot different than it does today. For in the beginning the earth was empty there was no kind of life at all on the earth. And the whole earth was covered in darkness. And the Spirit of God moved over the surface of the earth.
God took six days to make His creation. Then on the seventh day God rested from all the work He had done. Why don't we read and see what God did in those six days.
Day 1
The very first thing God said was, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw it was good. Just think God just spoke the words, "Let there be light," and light appeared. Wow! God has to be very powerful to do that.
Next, God decided to separate the light from the darkness. I am sure you know what God called the light and the darkness. God called the light "Day," and He called the darkness "night". This was the very first day of creation.
Day 2
On this day God spoke again, He said, "Let there be a space in the middle of the waters. This space will divide the waters from the waters. And it was done as God said.
You see God just spoke the words and He created a space in the middle of the waters that covered the earth. And this space made the waters be in two different places. And this space that God had created between the two waters God called Heaven. This was the second day of creation.
Day 3
Now on the third day God made the waters under heaven to come together all in one place, and dry land appeared. God called the dry land "earth" and the waters He called "seas." And God saw that this was good.
Next, God told the earth to grow grass, herbs, trees, and fruit trees, their seeds would allow more to grow back each year upon the earth. When God told the earth to grow all these things it was done, just because God had spoken to the earth and told it to grow these things.
Now the earth had plenty of grass, plants, and trees. And God saw that it was all good. This was the third day of creation.
Day 4
Listen God is speaking again. God said, "Let there be lights in the sky of Heaven so there will be day and night. And let them be for signs, seasons, days, and years. Also let them give light upon the earth. And everything was done, just like God said. You see God made two great lights in the sky. The bigger light is "the sun" to shine during the day. God made the smaller light, "the moon," to shine during the night. God also made the stars. God put all of them in the sky to give light upon the earth. This was the fourth day of creation.
Day 5
It was now time for God to start making living creatures on the earth. God said, "Let the waters be filled with moving creatures, and let there be birds that can fly above the earth in the sky. God created great whale, all sorts of fish, and other living creatures that live in the water. And God made different kinds of birds to fly in the sky. God saw that it was all good. God blessed all of them and He told them to have many little one to fill the water, and the earth. And this was the fifth day of creation.
Day 6
Let's see what happens today. God said, "Let the earth have living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and beast. And it was done. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, and let them rule over the fish, the birds, the cattle, the rest of the animals, and over all the earth." And it was done.
You see God created man in His own image. God created man and woman. And God blessed them and He told them, "Fill the earth with your children and rule over the earth and all the animals." God also said to the man, "Now I have given you all the herbs that grow from their own seed, and all the fruit trees to be your food.
And God said to the birds and all the animals that live on land, "I have given all of you every green herb to be your food." And it was all done as God said. God saw everything that He had made was good. This was the sixth day of creation.
Day 7
On this day the Heavens and t he earth were finished. That means that everything in the Heavens and on the earth was all done. So God ended His work, and now He rested. God blessed the seventh day, and He called it Holy.
Think about this: This story told us how God created the Heavens, the earth, and everything in them, all in six days and then on the seventh day He rested, and He called the seventh day Holy.
